“The world isn't what they give you
But rather, it's the fear you can overcome.”
in Canção do Medo
new single from Marco Oliveira
new album “Caminho é quanto fica da viagem”
released 06th March 2026
“Five years after "Ruas e Memórias", recorded and produced by José Mário Branco, Marco Oliveira returns with a new album that seeks, in some way, to continue along new paths the level of intensity he achieved with his previous album. José Peixoto, guitarist and composer, turned out to be the right partner for this work. Not to create a “Ruas e Memórias 2,” but rather to keep the bar high and open up new paths with him.
Nuno Pacheco, in jornal Publico 06th March 2026
"Canção do Medo (Song of Fear) was born during these fragile times, in an overly fragmented world. It is a kind of inner voice that guides us through shadows and confronts fear". Marco Oliveira
Caminho é quanto fica da viagem (The Way is What Remains of the Journey) is Marco Oliveira's new album, produced by guitarist José Peixoto. A breath between two guitars, twelve strings, and a chant that invites us to reflect on our identity, that long river that life weaves.
On this album, we hear original songs set to the words of the most important Portuguese poets of the 20th century: Eugénio de Andrade, Sophia de Mello Breyner, Sebastião da Gama, and Miguel Torga are the writers featured in this musical collection with poetry focused on the ocean.
After Fundo do Mar, music for a poem by Sophia de Mello Breyner, and Canção de Marinheiro, an evocation of Sebastião da Gama, now comes "Canção do Medo", with composition and lyrics by Marco Oliveira.
The video for Canção do Medo premiered on Marco Oliveira's YouTube channel on Friday, March 6th (link).
